8th Grade Computers

December 17th:

  • Log in to Edmodo & go to your profile (click the arrow next to the word "Me" on the upper right and select Profile)
    • Click the pencil on the blank profile picture and upload the avatar you created last week. If not at your computer, you will need to go to My Network Places / My Documents on Stm-Lab15 and then to your folder to find your avatar.
    • Click the pencil next to "How I Like to Learn" and read and select the way that you prefer to learn.
    • Click the pencil next to "Career Goal" and read and select what you think you might want to do for a living when you are older.
    • If you wish (this is optional), click the pencil next to "Favorite Quote" and search for a quote. You cannot enter your own quote here.
  • Edit the About Me page on your Google Site to tell a little bit about yourself but NO personal information like full name, links to social media sites or information about screen names, address, phone, etc. You can include your first name, age, grade, hobbies, things you like, etc.
  • Finish your self-portrait in Paint.NET

December 3rd:

  • Grab a Keyboard Cover and complete lessons in Typing Web for 15 minutes. Use the Countdown Timer to track your time.
  • Use Paint.NET (on your desktop) to draw a head & shoulders self-portrait
    • NO FLOATING HEADS.
    • Save your self-portrait as 8thYourName-Portrait in your folder as a PNG image.
    • If you would like a template, you can download one here; make sure you save this in your folder. Add a new layer to draw your features and then erase guidelines from the template.

November 26th:

  • Thanksgiving Gratitude Board:
    • Come up with a list of at least 10 things that you are thankful for. These can be serious or fun but must be appropriate for school!
    • Go to Tagxedo and create a Gratitude Word Cloud including the words you brainstormed plus Thanksgiving and your First Name using one of the following shapes: cloud, leaf, USA:
      • Enter words in the "Enter Text" box under Load
      • Change the shape by clicking the arrow next to the word Shape
      • Change the colors by clicking the arrow next to the word Theme
      • Change the font by clicking the arrow next to the word Font
    • Save the image as 8th-YourName-Thanksgiving in PNG format (use 2nd PNG option) into your folder.
    • Add your image to the We Are Thankful Padlet - The Name/Title should be your Grade & First Name

November 22nd:


HOMEWORK: Review the Online Responsible Use Contract with parent and return the signature sheet next class.
